With in the CESBA-MED –Sustainable
Mediterranean Cities project (INTERREG) we participated in the third Local
Committee Meeting on invitation by the Municipality of Sant Cugat del Vallès. A
group of 20 experts from academia, research, administration and private
entities discussed and further developed assessment criteria and benchmarks for
building assessment within the CESBA-MED methodology for the evaluation of
Sustainable Cities.
Indicators for the assessment of Energy
and Resource Consumption of Buildings have been the field of excellence where
we contributed to the further definition and approval of indicators and their
evaluation method. Primary energy demand, renewable energy share, embodied,
non-renewable energy and the use of recycled materials are examples of these
type of indicators, but also the peak demand of electricity for building
operation and efficient use of water resources are taken into consideration as
buildings should contribute to the overall resilience of neighbourhoods and
cities.
The areas of exemplary application will
be situated in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Sant Francesc, Monastir, Xalet negre,
Casa Cultura, Escola Collserola) and
Barcelona (Illa Efficient, Lactancia, AHC). The local experts committees will
assist the implementation process during the whole year through further
committee meetings. Furthermore CESBA-MED plans educational activities for technicians
and decision makers to get introduced into the developed tool and its methodology.
